Art with a Closed Ear but an Open Mind

 

Welcome! All Deaf communities to an art class with you in mind. The Hearing is welcome too. Art is another form of communication. A picture is worth a thousand words. We shall speak with our art. Welcome.

 

COURSE:

 

In art class, our course of study will focus upon problem-solving, using the elements and principles of design in order to create expressive, but well­ organized works of art. We will also focus heavily on basic drawing skills. Students will be exposed to a variety of both two and three-dimensional materials and mediums, and will also have opportunities to write about and discuss their own works, and the works of others.

 

GOALS:

 

• Explore art through a variety of media

• Discover art concepts and terms through art criticism and art production

• Learn about famous artist and their work

• Apply aesthetic judgment when viewing art

• Express yourself visually

• Know the Elements of Art and how they affect a composition by using the Principles of Design

• Make the most out of every project you create!

This may be the only art class you ever take, or it can be the beginning of a new world of expression. However it maybe YOU ARE EXPECTED TO OPEN YOUR MIND, DARE TO BE ORIGINAL, CHALLENGE YOUR CREATIVITY, TAKE RISK, AND PRODUCE ARTWORK BEYOND YOUR OWN EXPECTATIONS. SPEAK TO THE WORLD!!
